Dr. Terry Cromwell

Dr. Terry Cromwell has been in practice in Lafayette, Louisiana since 1973. Upon graduation from the University of Cincinnati Medical School, and serving two years in the navy as General Medical Officer, he completed four years of General Surgery Residency at Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit. Following two years of plastic surgery residency at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, Dr. Cromwell was certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery in 1975.

Dr. Cromwell has an active practice that encompasses all of the many areas of specialization involved in the plastic and reconstructive surgery field, including cosmetic surgery, surgery of the hand, reconstructive surgery for congenital anomalies, and breast surgery. For the last ten years he has concentrated on facial cosmetic surgery, combining laser surgery with facelifts, endoscopic surgery, liposuction, and fat injections.

Dr. Cromwell is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons and an active member in the American Society of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, the Louisiana Society of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, the Louisiana State Medical Society, and the Lafayette Parish Medical Society. He is past president of both the Louisiana Society of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery and the Lafayette Parish Medical Society.

Over the past years, Dr Cromwell has been instrumental in many efforts to provide health care to those unable to afford it in the state. In 1973 he established the Cleft Lip and Palate Clinic in Lake Charles, Louisiana through the Special Children's Health Services Program funded by the State of Louisiana. More recently, he pioneered the creation of the Lafayette Community Health Care Clinic, which provides medical care for the working poor who have no insurance coverage. Because of these efforts, in 1997 he was named Humanitarian of the Year by the Louisiana Medical Society. In 1999 he received the Public Citizen of the Year Award from the National Association of Social Workers, Lafayette Region.
