The eyes have been described as "windows to the soul" and increasingly greater emphasis has been placed on eyelids as a central feature of the face. Even small imperfections, such as wrinkles, loose skin, or "bags" under the eyes, can give an impression of being tired, weary, or displeased. A blepharoplasty (or eyelid surgery) is a procedure in which excess skin and protruding pockets of fat are removed to restore a more youthful appearance. In a blepharoplasty, incisions can be hidden in the upper eyelid crease and inside the lower eyelid(the "transconjunctival blepharoplasty"). A blepharoplasty typically is associated with only minimal discomfort. After eyelid surgery, some swelling and bruising is expected, but it can be diminished by using ice packs and typically most of it will have resolved within two weeks. A blepharoplasty can give your eyes a vibrant, alert, and refreshed appearance that will make you look as good as you feel. Email Dr. Fata Back to top
